Author News Update – 6 April, 2025

Welcome to my second author update.

Today’s blog features several videos, some sad news about copyright theft, and a new interview.

First off, I’ve been doing a couple of courses lately updating my manuscript submission skills. During that time I’ve met many writers still trying to land their first publishing deal. So I recorded a vlog about my own long running saga about getting my first deal, then losing that deal. This vlog, and one where I share my author marketing tips, can be watched below.

You may be aware that authors (both big name and indie) recently found out that their works have been used to train AI, without permission. This time it is Mark Zuckerberg’s company, Meta, which is responsible for the copyright breach. Lawyers are on the case representing just about every writer you can think of.

This is the second time my works have been used to train AI. Last time it was my debut novel which was used by another company. In Zuckerberg’s breach, nine of my stories have been used. Obviously, I’m furious.

Finally, Kirt Graves and Maz Maddox invited me to be a guest on their podcast Hoof & Fang! It was wonderful talking to them as originally, I had to postpone our initial interview recording as a tree was going to be removed from our front yard. This would have made the interview impossible as men chainsawed through the diseased ghost gum. We finally recorded this last month.

The last thing I need to share is I’ve just started an MM Romance novel as part of a series of books written by own voices gay authors, to be released as the Haunted Hearts series. Last year all of the books featured a ghost and were published one by one in time for Halloween. You can check them out HERE.

This years series is based around warlocks. I’m glad to be part of this project this year with a comedy Romance.

Thanks for joining me for my updates. I’m looking forward to bringing you more news in future blogs.
